Based on its physico-chemical properties, when released to the environment the test substance will partition primarily into the air compartment. It will then degrade in the lower atmosphere by reaction with hydroxyl radicals, via hydrogen abstraction. The calculated atmospheric lifetime of the test substance is 23 years corresponding to a 1/2-lifetime of 15.9 years (Schmoltner et al., 1994).

Due to its structure without chlorine or bromine, the test substance is expected to have zero ozone depletion potential. Its global warming potential is 1640 (Solomon et al., 2007).

In water, the test substance is not expected to hydrolyze owing to the lack of hydrolysable functional groups in its chemical structure. It is not readily biodegradable in aqueous screening tests (about 4% biodegradation after 28 days) and is not expected to sorb significantly to soil or sediment.
