Additional information

The substance hydrolyses moderately rapidly to form substances which have low log Kow values (<3) and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation, and the requirement for testing is waived. The parent substance itself also has a log Kow value <3 (measured log Kow = 2.7).


However, the BCF of 3-(triethoxysilyl)propanethiol has been calculated from the log Kow using the method in the Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment (EC 2003, Part III. Chapter 4, Section, Page 38). The estimated BCF value is 39.4 (log BCF = 1.6).
