Additional information

The experimental acute toxicity data for fish are available for 1-ethylpiperazine (CAS 5308-25-8). A static test with the Golden orfe (Leuciscus idus) was conducted according to the German Industrial Standard DIN 38412, part 15. The 96-h LC50 was determined to be 316 mg/L (nominal, not pH-adjusted, BASF AG, 1990, rep. no.: 10F0950/885185). The initial pH of the not pH-adjusted test solutions exceeded the recommended pH range given in OECD 201 (pH 6.0 to 8.5); therefore, the mortality and the observed effects might be partly due to the high pH. Analytical monitoring was not performed, but the substance is considered to be stable in water due to the high water solubility (completely miscible at 20 °C), the low vapor pressure (2.5 hPa at 20 °C) and the low Henry's Law Constant (HLC << 1 Pa*m³/mol). In addition, the substance is neither readily nor inherently biodegradable. 

Based on the available experimental data, it can be concluded that with high probability, the substance is acutely not harmful to fish.
