Description of key information

The density of the test substance was found to lie between 1 and 1.75 g/cm³. 1.4 g/cm³ was chosen as the key value for chemical safety assessment as it is the midpoint of this range; Summer et al. (2003), Rush (1993), Rohm and Haas (2001) In OECD SIDS (2006).

A number of public domain references were obtained with all data were assigned a reliability score of 4 in accordance with the principles for assessing data quality as outlined in Klimisch (1997). No single study was robust enough to be considered a key study and therefore a weight of evidence approach was used to address the endpoint. The general trend is that the density of dimethyltin dichloride lies between 1 and 1.75 g/cm3.
