Table below gives an overview of the regional RWC-ambient PEC values that are determined for dissolved barium concentrations in EU-surface waters. Measurements considered representative for their country are indicated in bold and used for the calculation of a median value for Europe. A best-fit was fitted through these points and the 50th percentile was taken. The median value of the country-specific RWC-ambient PECs, 38.9 μg Ba/L is thus considered as a relevant generic value of RWC ambient Ba-concentrations in EU-surface waters. RWC-ambient PECs are between 1.1 and 3.0 times higher than the typical background levels (calculated from the FOREGS database) for those countries.
