Description of key information

The acute toxicity of test item 4-chloro-α,α,α-trifluorotoluene (PCBTF) was tested to zebra fish under semi-static conditions. The LC0, the LC100, the LC50 value with its confidential limits and the NOEC at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours, calculated in terms of geometric mean of measured test item concentrations, were as follows:
LC0, 24 h- 48 h- 72 h and 96 h: <0.5 mg/L
LC100, 24 h: 16.3 mg/L
LC100 48 h- 72 h and 96 h: 4.7 mg/L
NOEC 24 h: 4.7 mg/L
NOEC 48 h- 72 h and 96 h: 2.2 mg/L
LC50, 24 h: 6.5 mg/L (95% CL: 4.0-10.6)
LC50, 48 h- 72 h and 96 h: 3.0 (95% CL: 2.6-3.5)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

LC50 for freshwater fish:
3 mg/L

Additional information

The 72h-LC50 for zebra fish was found to be 3 mg/L based on analytical concentrations. No study was performed on marine species.
