Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

TMT 15:
not self-reactive
not self-heating
not corrosive to metals

Additional information

Self-reactive substances

The available data on self-reactive properties of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

There are no chemical groups associated with explosive or self-reactive properties present in the molecule. Therefore based on the chemical structure the substance is not self-reactive. Since the justification is based on the chemical structure it is valid for TMT 55 and TMT anhydrous.

Self-heating substances

The available data on self-heating properties of TMT 55 do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: TMT 55 has a melting point less than 160 °C and therefore should not be considered for classification in this class since the melting process is endothermic and the substance-air surface is drastically reduced.

No test data on self-heating properties or melting point is available for TMT anhydrous.

Corrosive to metals

The available data on metal corrosiveness of TMT 55 and TMT 15 do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

TMT 55 is solid at a temperature of 55 °C and a test according to UN RTDG Test C.1 is not possible. The substance does not become liquid under ambient condition, therefore classification criteria shall not be applied for the substance as such.

No test data on corrosiveness to metals or the melting point is available for TMT anhydrous.

TMT 15 was found to be not corrosive with regard to aluminium in a test according UN RTDG Test C.1.

Furthermore V2A, V4A steel were found to be stable against TMT 15 at 20 °C and 50 °C and pH 11.4 -12.6.
