Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0.5 kPa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Five endpoints on the vapour pressure of 2-Chloropropionic acid are available tabulated below and standardised to kPa

Source Value  Units  Temperature  Value Standardised to kPa IUCLID Reference
 Sigma Aldrich Library of Chemical Safety Data (2nd Edition) 4  mm/Hg  20  0.5 001
Inchem.org   0.1  kPa  20  0.1 002
IUCLID Dataset - BASF AG   hPa  60  0.4 003
 IUCLID Dataset - BASF AG  30  hPa  100  3  003
Sigma Aldrich Safety Data Sheet    hPa  20  0.5  004

Since vapour pressure increases with temperature it is important to only consider results from the same temperature, so 20 degrees C is the chosen temperature, since the majority of results are available from this temperature. Standardising the results to units of kPa the available data indicates a vapour pressure of 0.5, 0.5 and 0.1.

Due to consistency between two independent values and the fact that one of the sources was peer reviewed, it is considered that 0.5 kPa at 20 degrees C can be taken to be the vapour pressure of 2-chloropropionic acid.
