Description of key information

In a weight of evidence approach the melting point of the compound can be described as follows:
CRC (2008): The test substance decomposes at 70 °C.
Merck (2006): The test substance is stated to give off water when heating and selenium oxide sublimes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to handbook data (Merck index and CRC handbook) selenous acid decomposes at 70 °C. Handbook data considered to be from a trusted source acc. to "ECHA, Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance" and therefore, the value could be regarded as valid.
