Additional information

Although there is a report of rather mild irritation to eyes of rabbits in an early inhalation study (Hoechst AG, 1930b), there is no reports of respiratory irritation. Guideline studies have concluded that 3-methoxybutyl acetate is not irritating to skin or eye.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to criteria in Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008, the substance is not classified for skin, eye or respiratory irritation. Any irritation associated with exposure to 3 -methoxybutyl acetate is of very low severity and clearly below the threshold for classification.
