With a flash point of -30°C and a boiling point of 42.3°C, methylal is considered as highly flammable liquid.

Flash point of -30°C and lower and upper explosion limits of 2.2% (or 71g/cm3) and 19.9% (or 630 g/cm3), respectively, were determined at 20°C by Physicalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt according to DIN 51 649.

Having a flash point of -30°C and a boiling point of 42.3°C, according to the CLP regulation, methylal is classified as highly flammable liquid cat 2.
