- Justification:
Methylal is not a PBT substance according to the following screening criteria for Persistency, Bioaccumulation, and Toxicity in PBT assessment guidance from ECHA (2011).
As the substance is considered to fulfil the P as methylal is not ready biodegradable, the PBT/vPvB assessment is continued by evaluation of the B/vB criterion. With a log Kow < 4.5, methylal is not identified as B or vB. The T /vT criteron is not met with a short-term aquatic EC50 or LC50> 0.1 mg/L.

According to the substance properties the likely routes of exposure are the dermal and the inhalatory ones for the worker.
