Conclusions:
Exposure to saturated vapours of 3-methoxybutanol (6200 mg/m3) only caused slight irritation of the accessible mucous membranes after 1 and 6 hour exposures in cats. 1 cat was slightly drowsy for a time in the 6 hour exposure but was later lively. Rabbits and guinea pigs showed no adverse clinical effects.
Executive summary:

In an acute inhalation study, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs were exposed to saturated vapours of butoxyl for 1 and 6 hours. Only slight irritation of the accessible membranes was seen in cats after 1 or 6 hour exposures. 1 cat was reported to appear drowsy for a time. There were no effects of treatment for rabbits and guinea pigs.
