Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: The substance is not considered to be hazardous by
inhalation, but if exposed to dust, move to area of fresh
air and seek medical advice if signs of discomfort.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical advice if signs of discomfort.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before re-use. Seek medical advice if signs of
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: There is no known reaction with standard extinguishing

Agents such as dry chemical, carbon dioxide, foams and water
spray are acceptable. If water is used, the fate of run-off
water and combustion products must be considered.

Product arising from burning: Normal combustion will lead to the formation of carbon
dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrous oxides. Incomplete
combustion (with lack of oxygen) may lead to the formation

of complex carbon and nitrogen products. Nitrous acids may

be formed in the presence of water.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Suitable for protection against nitrous oxides and acids, to
include face mask, neoprene gloves, breathing aparatus and

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep up the material and dispose of as chemical waste in
suitable labelled containers. Avoid generation of dust. PPE
should be used as recommended when handling the substance.

The area can be washed with water, but care should be
takento avoid run-off into non-controlled drainage systems
or water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: In the dry form, precautions should be taken against
generating dust despite apparent low dust content. PPE
should be provided to prevent unnecessary contact with skin,
eyes or by inhalation.

If dust is formed during any stage of handling, ensure that
there is no source of ignition or static discharge as, in
common with other organic powders, dust explosivity cannot
be ignored.

Storage: Store dry under ambient conditions. No special precautions.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Typically packed in plastic lined 25 kg drums.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Not reported to be reactive.

Chemical reaction with water: Not reactive in water.

Dust explosion: As with all organic solids, the risk of dust explosion must
be considered. There is no indication that the substance is
susceptable to dust explosions, but precautions should be
taken to avoid the generation of dust.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is consumed during use and there is not a
possibility of recycling the substance.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None reported.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance does not appear to biodegrade and has the
potential to accumulate in the environment. Controlled
discharge is not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the recommended method of disposal. Flue gas
scrubbing is recommended as the substance contains nitrogen.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance will not be adsorbed onto solid organic

materials. This is not a recommended method of disposal.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Landfill of low level waste is possible, as permitted by
local regulations.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable to the general public.
