Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The biodegradation of EEA-NH4 by microorganisms was studied in accordance with OECD guideline 301C: Ready Biodegradability: Modified MITI Test (I) (Kurume Laboratory, 2005).

In this GLP-compliant study 30 mg/L activated sludge (prepared from samples taken from industrial and city sewage treatment plants, surface water and surface soil) was exposed to 100 mg/L EEA-NH4 for 28 days. Controls used were: 1. purified water with test substance, 2. activated sludge without test substance and 3. activated sludge exposed to aniline. After 7, 14, 21 and 28 days the removal of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) were calculated. In addition, the concentrations of test substance were analysed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Based on the calculated percentages of biodegradation by BOD of 12% and by COD of 8% (both averages of 3 replicates) the test item was concluded not to be biodegraded by microorganisms under the test conditions applied.
