Guidance on Safe Use

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air if effects occur. Consult a physiciam.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with flowing water immediately and continuosly for
15 minutes. Consult medical person.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash off in flowing water or shower.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water fog or fine spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam.
Alcohol resistant foams (ATC type) are preferred if
available. General purpose syntetic foams (including AFFF)
or protein foams may function, but much less effectively. Do
not use direct water steam. Will spread fire.

Product arising from burning: smoke may contain the original material in addition to
unidentified toxic and/or irritating compounds.

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Eliminate all sources of ignition in vicinity of spill or
released vapour to avoid fire or explosion. For large
spills, warn public of downwind explosion hazard. Check area
with explosion meter before reentering area. Ground and bond
all containers and handling equipment.

Vapour explosion hazard - keep out of sewers.

Clean-up: Pump with explosion proof equipment. Absorb with
material such as dirt or sand. If availabe, use foam to
smother or suppress.

Handling and storage

Handling: Containers, even those that have been emptied, can contain
vapours. Do not cut, drill, grind, weld or perform similar
operations on or near empty containers. No smoking, open
flames or sources of ignition in handling and storage area.

Never use air pressure for transferring product.
Electrically ground all equipment.

Storage: Use of non-sparking or explosion proof equipment may be
necessary, depending upon the type of operation. Minimize
sources of ignition, such as static build up, heat, spark or
flame. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Store
in carbon steel, stainless steel, Teflon.
