Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek medical attention, symptomatic treatment
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of water. If irritation persists, seek
medical attention
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, symptomatic treatment

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon oxides. Suitable
extinguishing agents are water mist, foam or dry powder. A
self-contained breathing apparatus may be required.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Absorb spillages with a suitable dry agent, sweep up and
transfer to waste containers. Dispose of waste by
incineration or at an approved landfill site.

Handling and storage

Handling: Normal standards of good housekeeping and industrial
hygiene should be observed. Avoid exposure by swallowing,
inhalation and skin and eye contact. In particular, gloves
(eg pvc) should be worn.

Storage: No special precautions.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from solvent formulations (eg distillation) is
possible but not economic.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable. Strong oxidation with chromate is a
possibility but this has problems with chromate disposal.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a landfill site after absorbing on suitable
material is possible. Discharge to the aquatic environment
is not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration at an approved facility is
possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not enter water purification systems
in high concentrations. However, if it should any effects
should be minimal (the substance has a low water solubility
and high volatility).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from solvent formulations is possible but not
economic.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a landfill site is possible if the solvent has
been absorbed on suitable material. Discharge to the
aquatic environment is not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method of disposal.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The solvent should not enter water purification systems in
high concentrations. However, if it should, any effect
would be minimal (the substance has a low water solubility
and is highly volatile).
