Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of inhalation, remove person to fresh air.  If

breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Holding the eyelids apart, flush eyes immideately with

copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes.  Call a

physician.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing.  Wash skin thoroughly with

soap and copious amounts of water.  Wash clothing before re-

use.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious.

Call a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder or

appropriate foam.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur

oxides.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Respiratory protection: Respirator with cartridge providing

protection against dust or gas mask with particle filter

For short-term exposure to low concentrations a dust mask is

suitable.

Hand protection: Compatible chemical-resistant gloves.

Eye protection: Chemical safety goggles or safety glasses.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Use appropriate measures to reduce contact with skin and

eyes and avoid inhaling dust.

Wipe up, deposit in a suitable container and forward to

waste management.  Avoid raising dust.  Wash spill site with

suitable solvent and ventilate area.

Handling and storage

Handling: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety

procedures.  Avoid inhaling dust.  Avoid contact with eyes,

skin and clothes.

Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place.  Keep container tightly closed.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance is packed in hard plastic containers with

screw caps and double inner PE plastics bags.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will be converted quantitatively to the sodium

salt of 2-benzamido-4-mercapto butyric acid (CAS No 103796-

22-1), which in turn will be attached covalently to a

polymer matrix.  Recovery/recycling of the substance to be

notified is not relevant.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: N/A

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and

burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner

and srubber.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration of the substance will generate acidic fumes,

which should be absorbed and neutralized in a scrubber.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Because of very limited solubility, the material will float

on the surface film of calm water.  It is suggested that the

material can be collected by flotation.  When wet, the

material will setle to the bottom, and will probably sink on

disturbed water.
