Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For platinum dinitrate, data are read across from another platinum(IV) substance without a chloro ligand, dihydrogen hexahydroxyplatinate. The 72-hour EC50 values for inhibition of growth rate and yield were determined to be 6.626 mg Pt L-1 and 2.239 mg Pt L-1, respectively. The 72-hour EC10 values for inhibition of growth rate and yield were determined to be 1.98 mg Pt L-1 and 0.778 mg Pt L-1, respectively. The NOEC was determined for yield to be 0.613 mg Pt L-1.

Additional information

For platinum dinitrate, data are read across from another platinum(IV) substance without a chloro ligand, dihydrogen hexahydroxyplatinate.

An algal growth inhibition study was conducted with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata for dihydrogen hexahydroxyplatinate following OECD guideline 201 (Wenzel 2014). Five test concentrations were used and these were analysed using ICP-OES. Results were based on geometric mean measured concentrations, since the concentration of the test item decreased more than 20 % of the measured initial concentration throughout the test. The 72-hour EC50 values for inhibition of growth rate and yield were determined to be 10.225 mg L-1 (6.626 mg Pt L-1) and 3.45 mg L-1 (2.239 mg Pt L-1), respectively. The 72-hour EC10 values for inhibition of growth rate and yield were determined to be 3.06 mg L-1 (1.98 mg Pt L-1) and 1.20 mg L-1 (0.778 mg Pt L-1), respectively. The NOEC was determined to be 0.946 mg L-1 for yield, equivalent to 0.613 mg Pt L-1.
