Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Preparation of test solutions
The test article stock solution (nominal concentration: 1000 mg/mL) was prepared by dissolving 50 mg of test article in dilution water to a final volume of 50 mL. The stock solution was further diluted with dilution water to prepare the test article solutions of 100.0 mg/L, 50.0 mg/L, 10.0 mg/L, 1.0 mg/L, and 0.1 mg/L.

Test conditions

Hardness:
140 to 250 mg/L (CaCO3)
Test temperature:
21 ± 1°C (recorded daily)
pH:
6 to 9 : measured at the beginning and end of the test in the control solution and in the highest test article concentration solution.
Dissolved oxygen:
more than 3 mg/L in the control and in the highest test article concentration solution: measured at the beginning and end of the test in the control solution and in the highest test article concentration solution.
Nominal and measured concentrations:
The test article solutions of 100.0 mg/L, 50.0 mg/L, 10.0 mg/L, 1.0 mg/L, and 0.1 mg/L.
Details on test conditions:
The test duration is 48 hours. At the start of the study each test vessels contained 40 ml of test solutions and five young daphnids. In the test four replicates total of 20 animals at each test concentration level were investigated. Immobility of daphnia was checked at 0, 24 ± 1 and 48 ± 1 hours after the expose. Any abnormal behaviors were also recorded. The daphnia were not fed during the test.
