- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- The Test substance is a UVCB
- Details on study design: HPLC method:
- The test method included preparation of test solution, reference solution and sodium nitrate solutions. Sodium nitrate solution was injected into the HPLC to determine the dead time t0. The reference substances were used to establish a calibration curve. Details on sample preparations for HPLC runs are below;
Preparation of test substance solution
5.26 mg of test substance was weighed into a 20 mL volumetric flask, dissolved with acetonitrile and made up to the mark line, after shaking well to obtain the test substance stock solution with the concentration of 263 mg/L. 7.00 mL of the stock solution was added to a 10 mL volumetric flask, and diluted with deionized water to the mark line, after shaking well to obtain the test substance solution with the concentration of 184 mg/L.
Preparation of reference solution
Preparation of solid reference solutions: 5.29 mg, 4.97 mg, 5.35 mg, 5.16 mg, 5.45mg and 5.27 mg of acetanilide, atrazine, linuron, naphthalene, pyrazophos and phenanthrene respectively, were weighed into six 20mL volumetric flasks, dissolved with acetonitrile to the mark line to obtain six reference stock solutions of acetanilide, atrazine, linuron, naphthalene, pyrazophos and phenanthrene. 5.00 mL of each six stock solution was added to a 10 mL volumetric flask and dissolved with deionized water to the mark line to obtain the six reference solutions. Preparation of liquid reference solutions: l .0mL of DDT standard solution was taken by a transfer liquid gun and placed in a l .5mL sample vial, the solvent was evaporated and the remaining residue was dissolved in 1.0 mL of 50% acetonitrile solution. After ultrasonication for 5 min, the DDT reference solution was obtained.
Preparation of sodium nitrate solution
5.35 mg of the sodium nitrate was weighed into a 50 mL volumetric flask. Dissolved with 50% acetonitrile and made up to the mark to obtain the sodium nitrate solution with the concentration of 107 mg/L. - Sample No.:

- Details on results (HPLC method):
- The adsorption coefficient (Koc) on soil of test substance was estimated by the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The results showed that the linear regression equation was: log Koc = 5.63 log k' + 1.811, R2=0.9789. The test substance is a UVCB, under the condition of this test, a total of 13 constituents were detected. The log Koc values of the 1st-12th constituent of the test substance were between 3.80 and 5.56, and the log Koc of the 13th constituent was greater than 5.63..
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The log Koc values of the 1st-12th constituent of the test substance were between 3.80 and 5.56, and the log Koc of the 13th constituent was greater than 5.63.
- Executive summary:
Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) of the test substance on Soil using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was determined in accordance to OECD 121 and GLP. Sodium nitrate was used for measuring the dead time of the substance and the reference substances used includes; Acetanilide, atrazine, linuron, naphthalene, pyrazophos, phenanthrene and DDT.
The test satisfied the validity criteria:
(1) The log koc derived from the same reference substances was not above 0.09 which was within the range of 0.5 log unit.
(2)Correlation coefficient R2 of the linear regression equation was 0.9789 which met within the requirement of above 0.95.
The results show that the linear regression equation was: log Koc= 5.63 log k' + 1.811, R2=0.9789, where k' is the capacity factor. The test substance is a UVCB, under the condition of this test, a total of 13 constituents were detected. The log Koc values of the 1st-12th constituent of the test substance were between 3.80 and 5.56, and the log Koc of the 13th constituent was greater than 5.63.
