Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
The test material was purged through test media for different periods of time at a rate of 20 mL/min. The gas flow was assessed using a soap-bubble flow meter. To incease the availablity of CO2 for the alga when inclubated in a closed vessel, extra NaHCO3 was added resultin in a concentration of 100mg/L.

Basis for effect:
biomass
Duration:
72 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
> 170 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (geom. mean)
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
biomass
Details on results:
- Exponential growth in the control: Yes
- Observation of abnormalities: No
- Any observations that might cause a difference between measured and nominal values: No
- Effect concentrations exceeding solubility of substance in test medium
Results with reference substance (positive control):
- Results with reference substance valid - Yes
- EC50: 72 hr cell growth inhibition at 0.78 mg/L, 72 hr growth rate reduction at 1.6 mg/L
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
Although the pH range from time 0 to 72 hours varied by more than 1.5 units, this was due to the study being conducted in a closed system. This change in pH did not effect the exponential algal growth and was not considered to adversely affected the study
Conclusions:
In an OECD TG 201 and EU method C3 followed toxicity study on green algae, the ErC50 and NOErC values of the test substance were determined to be > 170 and 170 mg/L, respectively, based on mean measured concentrations.
