Description of key information

For 2 -Amino-5-Chloro-N,3-Dimethylbenzamide the water hazard on Daphnia magna after 48 hours of exposure was determined according to OECD 202 with the following results:

- EC10 54.93 mg/L; EC20 61.54 mg/L; EC50 76.50 mg/L;

Additionally no other effects were observed on the exposed organisms.

The growth inhibition test of 2-amino-5-chloro-N,3-dimethylbenzamide on green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata accoridng to OECD 201 after 72 hours of exposure gave the following results:

- Growth inhibition based on yield: EyC50 = 0.276 mg a.i./L (95 % C.L. 0.251 - 0.304 mg a.i./L);

- Growth inhibition based on growth rate: ErC50 = 1.291 mg a.i./L (95 % C.L. 1.240 - 1.343 mg a.i./L);

Based on EU regulation 1272/2008 the results lead to classification as hazardous to aquatic environment, chronic category 2 (H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.)
