Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
27 March to 3 April 2020
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
ring method
Key result
Surface tension:
71.75 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1 g/L
Remarks on result:
other: Nominal saturated solution
Conclusions:
The surface tension value was found to be 71.75 mN/m at 20.1°C ± 0.1°C. CAS 577978-76-8 is classified as not being a surface active substance.
Executive summary:

The surface tension determination was conducted to GLP according to the OECD 115 test guideline. The test item was assessed at a maximal feasible concentration of soluble fractions (according to the allowed maximum in the guidelines), was carried out by a Krüss K11 Tensiometer using the ring method. The surface tension value was found to be 71.75 mN/m with 0.50 RSD% at 20.1°C ± 0.1°C (at 1 g/L as nominal saturation level with unknown actual dissolved amount).

As the surface tension value of the quasi-saturated aqueous solution of the test item was greater than 60 mN/m under the conditions of this test, CAS 577978-76-8 is classified as not being a surface active substance.
