- The median particle size L50 of the test item deduced from the particle size distributions was 148 μm.
- Executive summary:
The determination of the particle size distribution by laser diffraction of the test item was performed under consideration of the OECD Guideline 110 by laser diffraction. The median particle size L50 of the test item deduced from the particle size distributions was 148 μm.
Reference
The sample consists of white particles, that are slightly agglomerated. As the agglomeration of the sample might influence the results of the particle size measurement, the sample was treated with ultrasound after dispersion in water to disperse the agglomerates into the primary particles.The sample showed a monomodal particle size distribution with a maximum at approximately 163 µm.
To evaluate the stability of the dispersion over time the D values were measured for 20 measurement cycles. The dispersion after 1 min of external ultrasound is stable over the 20 measurement cycles. The Dv(0.90) values shows small fluctuations (not significant). Thus, the result from the 1st measurement cycle is reported.
Description of key information
L50 = 148 µm
