Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The data for similar substance of Direct Black 19 are :

log Koc, soil, pH 5.6, 25°C= 2.42

log Koc, sludge, pH 5.6, 25°C=2.39

log Koc, soil, pH 7.4, 25°C = -0.07

log Koc, sludge, pH 7.4, 25°C = -0.52

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
12.6

Additional information

A study (VUOS, 2011) was performed to estimate the adsorption coefficient Koc of similar substance on soil and sludge by means of HPLC method, following EU C.19. Log Koc for both soil and sludge are less than 3 for pH 5.6 at 25°C and negative at pH 7.4, showing very low potential of adsorption of the tested substance.

No significant influence of the counterion can be estimated on this result.

The value of 1.1 has been set as the minimum log Koc value accepted by EUSES to perform the risk assessment.
