Additional information

The substance is expected to hydrolyse and biodegrade rapidly in the environment. Although the octanol-water partition coefficient of the substance (log Kow= 9.36) indicates the potential for bioaccumulation, the substance is not expected to be bioaccumulative due to its rapid hydrolysis and ready biodegradability. The hydrolysis product of the substance (octadecenyl succinic acid) has a predicted bioconcentration factor of 56.23, below the level of concern for secondary poisoning and food chain exposures. The predicted adsorption coefficient for the hydrolysis product of the substance (Koc= 338,900) indicates the potential for adsorption to soil or sediments, although the substance is not expected to partition substantially to the soil and sediment compartments due to rapid hydrolysis and degradation.
