Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of glufosinate-ammonium was investigated experimentally (Voelskow, 1995; M-166505-02-2) in activated sludge at two test concentrations of 0.1 or 1 mg a. s. /L, following application of 3,4-14C-labelled active substance and incubation at 22 °C under the conditions of a carbon dioxide evolution test (Sturm test) for a maximum of 28 days. The study was conducted according to GLP and OCED guideline 301B.

The evaluation revealed that glufosinate-ammonium can be regarded as not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the test, with maximum biodegradation rates of 7.22% and 1.19% CO2evolution at rates of 0.1 and 1.0 mg test item/L, respectively.
