Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid non flammable in air, e.g. no flash point up to 200°C
Justification for type of information:
According to Column 2, Section 7.12, of Annex VII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, this study does not need to be conducted if the substance is a liquid which is non-flammable in air. The flash point of the substance is reported as 163 °C, although an additive to the substance tested may impact this and lower the true value. The boiling point is over 350°C, which ECHA guidance (IRCSA R.7.a, 2017) states is a threshold in determining the need for autoignition testing data. Lastly, the substance is an ester of a fatty acid, and is expected to decompose rather than ignite. The criteria is met for a liquid non-flammable in air and an adaptation to the data requirement is claimed.
