study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

The test substance is considered to be non-explosive.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The chemical structure of the test substance ‘Squalene-rich fraction obtained from vegetable oil deodorizer distillate by transesterification, crystallisation and vacuum distillation’was examined for the presence of groups associated with explosive properties according to UN recommendations (Appendix 6 of the UN's Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Test and Criteria 4th ed (Revised Edition, 2003) and Section 7.1.11.3 of the REACH guidance R.7a: Endpoint-specific guidance (May 2008).

Justification for classification or non-classification

‘Squalene-rich fraction obtained from vegetable oil deodorizer distillate by transesterification, crystallisation and vacuum distillation’ does not contain any chemical groups associated with explosive properties. Therefore, it does not warrant classification for explosivity according to the EU CLP criteria (EC/1272/2008).
