Specific details on test material used for the study:
Cocoyl proline is produced directly in water solution. In this test, cocoyl proline was tested in the commercialized form, so in aqueous solution.

This choice was taken considering that for measuring toxicity on fishes, solids need to be dissolved in water before testing. Furthermore, it provides a better understanding on the properties of the substance in the form that will be in contact with final users

Water percentage in the sample varies between 30 and 50%.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)

Study design

Test type:
static
Total exposure duration:
72 h

Test conditions

Test temperature:
23°C ± 1°C

Results and discussion

Effect concentrations
Duration:
72 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
0.03 g/L
Details on results:
The test was performed at the following concentrations:
1 g/L, 0.5 g/L, 0.25 g/L, 0.125 g/L, 0.06 g/L, 0.01 g/L

All the fish died (7 specimen for each concentration) for the tests up to 0.06 g/L. No animal died in the test with 0.01 g/L of test substance.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Cocoyl Proline was tested for fish toxicity, with the final result of 0.03 g/L of LC50 for Danio Rerio.
