Description of key information

Short-term terrestrial toxicity studies have been performed on the erathworm Eisenia fetida in an OECD 209 study and also on three species of plants to determine an EC50 for seedling emergence and subsequent plant growth (OECD 208). In addition a soil toxicity study on soil microorganisms (OECD 216) was performed and an NOEC developed.

The following end-points were derived :

OECD 208 - Plant Emergence and Growth :

Soybean :

EC50 Emergence > 1000 mg/kg

EC50 Growth > 1000 mg/kg

Tomato :

EC50 Emergence > 1000 mg/kg

EC50 Growth > 1000 mg/kg

Oat :

EC50 Emergence > 1000 mg/kg

EC50 Growth = 720 mg/kg

OECD 209 - Acute Earthworm Toxicity :

LC50 = 246.3 mg test item/kg soil (dw) (95% confidence interval: 224.8 – 269.4 mg test item/kg soil (dw))

OECD 216 - Toxicity to Soil Microorganisms - Nitrogen Transformation Test :

NOEC > or = 1000 mg test item/kg (dry weight)

EC50 > 1000 mg test item/kg (dry weight)
