Brachydanio rerio (Hamilton-Buchanan) - all fish obtained from a single batch.

- Supplier : Société d'Elevage Piscicole Contrôlé, La Grande Rivière, 69490 Saint-Forgeux, France;
- Size : 3.4 to 4.0 cm
- Acclimitasition : Tank of approximately 200 L in reverse osmosed water with further remineralisation. Diet - Tetra-Min, ad libitum on a daily basis. Feeding stopped 24 hours before start of the study. Period of acclimatisation of 12 days before ths tart of the study, with a mortality less than 5% observed during a 7 day period preceding the study.

The Nominal Test concentrations tested were : 1.50, 2.25, 3.38, 5.10, 6.00, 6.80, 7.65, 11.48 mg Nectaryl/L

A Solvent Control (containing 11.48 mg Ethanol/L) and a Blank Control (no Ethanol) were run in parallel.
Details on test conditions:
- 10 fish per treatment group were exposed.
- No feeding performed during 96 hour exposure period.
- Tanks were cleaned daily.
- Semi-static renewal on a 24-hour basis.
- Light/Dark period : 12 hours/12 hours.
- Loading Rate - max. 1g/L
- Observation for Effects : Mortality - recorded at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours; Sub-Lethal Effects Observations - Any abnormal behaviour including swimming, respiration, pigmentation, loss of equilibrium was recorded 2.5 hours after the start of the exposure and at every 24 hours, thereafter.
