EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
20 mg/L

Additional information

Acute toxicity of 2,2-bis(methylthio) propane (BMTP) to Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata has been investigated through OECD Guideline 201 and according to GLP requirements (Gancet, 2007). The algae were exposed for 72 hours at different nominal concentrations of 0, 10, 17.8, 31.6, 56.2 and 100 mg/L. The EC50 - 72h and EC10 -72h values for growth rate were 41 and 20 mg/L, respectively. Since the initial measured concentrations in non-inoculated flasks were not found to be equivalent (>80%) to the nominal concentrations and since final measured concentrations were found to be equivalent (>80%) to initial measured concentrations, calculation of effective concentrations EC50and EC10 were performed using initial measured concentrations. All the validity criteria were fulfilled.
