First-aid measures

General information: Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product.

- After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints.

- After skin contact: Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.

- After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

- After swallowing: Call for a doctor immediately.

Information for doctor:

- Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

- Eyes: Dust may irritate eyes mechanically.

- Hazards and systemic effects: No specific hazards known.

- Possible routes of intake: Intake by swallowing or inhalation of dust.

- Chronic effects: No chronic effects known.

- Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Symptomatic treatment. No specific antidot.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

- Suitable extinguishing agents: C02, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam.

- For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: No restriction in large fires.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Formation of explosive dust/air-mixtures is possible. In case of fire, the following can be released: Nitrogen oxides (NOX), Carbon monoxide (CO), high risk of dust explosions!

- Advice for firefighters

- Protective equipment: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Chemical resistant protective suit. Under the protective suit a fire protective suit according to EN 469 should be applied.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Avoid formation of dust.

Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol.

Do not breathe dust.

Avoid spillage of product into the environment.

Access only for trained personnel with personal protective equipment.

- Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Pick up mechanically. If formation of dust cannot be avoided use respiratory filter device.

Send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles.

Possible formation of explosive dust/air mixtures.

Handling and storage

Handling

- Precautions for safe handling Keep containers tightly sealed.

Fill only in dedicated and assigned containers.

- Information about fire - and explosion protection: Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.

High risk of dust explosions!

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

- Storage

- Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store in a cool location.

- Corrosion of metals: It should generally be borne in mind that there is a possibility of corrosion on contact with this material. Resistance should be checked in each individual case.

- Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from oxidizing agents.

- Further information about storage conditions: None.

- Maximum storage temperature: No data available.

- Recommended storage temperature: Currently no data available. IIt is therefore recommended not to exceed room temperature (max. 25°C) during storage over a longer period of time.

- Acceptable storage time: No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1.       General protective and hygienic measures: The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling chemicals.

2.       Respiratory protection: Use respiratory protective device in case of formation of dust.

3.       Protection of hands: Protective gloves. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.

For the permanent contact gloves made of the following materials are suitable:

-       The following materials are known from experience to be suitable for protection against undissolved solids: rubber. Check for tightness before use. Replace damaged gloves.

4.       Eye protection: Safety glasses

5.       Body protection: Use dust-proof protective suit.

Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment: Avoid spillage of product into the environment. If possible use this material only in closed systems and devices. In case of open plant systems (sampling devices, filling and discharging, cleansing works etc.) use local exhaust and collecting trays. Follow emission limit values. Measures in case of unwanted emissions should be established.

Risk management measures: General protective and hygienic measures must be observed. Handling and use of this material/formulation only under controlled conditions in closed systems. Employees who use this material/formulation must be trained and demonstrably instructed about possible risks for man and environment. Measures for prevention of hazards in case of unwanted leakage (LOPC) shall be implemented.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

- Chemical stability

- Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: No decomposition if used according to specifications.

Sensitive to:

- Air: Risk of dust explosions.

- Possibility of hazardous reactions Formation of explosive dust/air mixtures is possible. A danger of ignition caused by electrostatic charge cannot be excluded. High risk of dust explosions! Electrostatic discharge may cause dust explosions.

- Conditions to avoid: No further relevant information available.

- Incompatible materials: Strongly oxidizing materials. Strong oxidizing agents.

- Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Nitrogen oxides

Carbon monoxid

Disposal considerations

Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local authority approval.
