Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties of registered substance were determined from experimental testing, except Vapour pressure, Partition coefficient and Water solubility that were derived in a constituents approach from QSAR estimations on constituents. Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of known constituents or experience in handling and use of the substance.

The substance is  colourless to slightly yellow mobile liquid at ambient temperatureIt is expected to float over water, because of its low relative density (0.9059). The substance contains constituents having different water solubilities and volatilities.

The substance is classified as FLAMMABLE LIQUID, Category 3 based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation) and UN Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Otherwise, no other hazard was identified with regard to physical properties (explosivity, oxidising properties, self-heating substance) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation) and UN Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:

Endpoint (method)

Data

Appearance at 20°C and 1 atm.

(visual observation)

Colourless to slightly yellow, mobile liquid

Freezing point

(OECD 102/EU A1, description of the test item at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure,pre-test))

The freezing point of registered substance is stated as <-20°C

Boiling point

(OECD 103/EU A2,

DSC analysis)

183°C

Relative density

(EU A3, oscillating densimeter)

The test substance is less dense than water.

The mean relative density of the test item was D20/20=0,9059±0,0002.

Granulometry

(data waiving)

study scientifically not necessary (liquid)

Vapour pressure

(Constituent approach - QSAR estimations on constituents)

The vapour pressure of the constituents of the substance (19 components of the substance covering more than 90% of the composition) are in the range between 11.3 and 656 Pa (valid QSAR estimations).

Log Kow

(Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents)

The logKOW of 19 major constituents of the substance (covering more than 90% of the composition) were estimated to be between 2.5 and 4.8 at 25°C (valid QSAR estimations).

Water solubility

(Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents)

The water solubility at 25°C of 19 components of the substance (covering more than 90% of the composition of the substance) has been determined to be between 0.109 and 300 mg/L each at 25°C.

Surface tension

(data waiving)

Waived based on chemical structure of the known constituents of the substance, not characteristic of true surfactants and considering that it is not the intended use of the substance (i.e. not a desired property).

Auto-flammability (EU A15)

AIT= 250°C

Flash-point

(EU A9, ISO 3679, equilibrium closed cup)

Flammability air/water

(data waiving)

Self-heating substances/mixtures

(data waiving)

The flash point of the test item was stated as 50.5°C.

The substance is classified as a FLAMMABLE LIQUID Category 3 according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).

Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents.

Waived based on experience in handling, testing and use and chemical structure of known constituents of the substance.

NOT flammable if contact with air or water

Waived based on physical state (liquid)

NO self-heating substance anticipated.

Explosive properties

(data waiving)

Waived based on chemical structure of the known constituents of the substance and experience in handling and use of this type of substance.

LOW potential for explosive properties

Oxidising properties

(data waiving)

Waived based on chemical structure of known constituents of the substance.

LOW potential for oxidizing properties.

Slight variations are possible with composition (UVCB substance).
