Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

not highly flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The flammability of the substance was evaluated according to the EU Method A.10. During the preliminary screening study, the test substance was spread on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate in the form of a rope 250 mm in length with a cross section of about 1 cm2. A hot flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the train for 2 minutes.

The test item did not ignite and combustion was not propagated either by burning with flame or smouldering over 200 mm of the train within a specified time (within 4 minutes), therefore, no further testing (burning rate test) is required.

The substance shouldn’t be considered as highly flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, Annex I: 2.7.2.1 -2.7.2.3 and Table 2.7.1, a substance is classified as flammable and categorised in Cat.1 or Cat.2 based on the burining rate determined. As per the Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria (version 5.0, July 2017) in many cases, a simple screening test can be used to determine whether a solid should be classified as flammable. Solid substances and mixtures are classified as flammable according to their burning behaviour. The screening test resulted as negative and the burning rate test was not performed since the substance

did not ignite nor a combustion was not propagated either by burning with flame or smouldering over 200 mm of the train within 4 minutes.

The substance shouldn’t be considered as highly flammable and it is therefore not classified as flammable solid according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008.
