Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Wash

affected areas with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide and dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and

nitrogen together with isobutylene.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus (pressure demand,

MSHA/NIOSH approved or equivalent) and full protective

clothing should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Dampen and sweep up spill, transfer to a suitable container,

and dispose of by incineration at a suitable facility in

accordance with local regulations. Wash spill site with

water. Do not allow waste water to enter drains.

Handling and storage

Handling: Impervious gloves (eg PVC) and safety goggles (BS 2092 or

equivalent) should be worn. Clothing should be laundered

before re-use. Avoid dust formation, using local exhaust

ventilation if necessary. If there is a possibility of dust

formation the equivalent of a MSHA/NIOSH approved full face

piece air-purifying respirator should be worn. The

respirator should be equipped with organic vapour cartridges

and pesticide prefilters. Drying equipment should be inert

and/or able to run under vacuum (see 2.3.5). Bonding and

earthing should be employed for operations capable of

generating static electricity.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from

foodstuffs in polyethylene lined fibre drums.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with oxidising agents and acids. The substance

may form explosive dust/air mixtures (minimum ignition

temperature of dust cloud is 560 deg C).

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance may be recovered for re-use. n-Butyl acetate

extracts of the substance may be washed with water and

recrystallised.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas

treatment to remove nitrogen oxides should be fitted.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
