Description of key information

An OECD 301F study was carried out in accordance with GLP to investigate the ready biodegradability of the registered substance 1 -hydroxyoctan-2 -one. The biodegradation of the test item was 76.8% within 28 days (mean of three replicates). On day 8 the degradation extent was already above 60% (65.6%, mean of three replicates).

On the basis of this test 1 -hydroxyoctan-2 -one is considered to be ready biodegradable meeting the 10d window.

Additional information

BIODEGRADATION IN WATER: SCREENING TEST

The registered substance 1 -hydroxyoctan-2 -one is readily biodegradable meeting the 10d window (76.8% biodegradation after 28d)

BIODEGRADATION IN SEDIMENT

The registered substance is readily biodegradable. Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of Annex IX and the specific rules for adaptation, simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water or sediment is not required (ECHA guidance R7b; Version 4; June 2017).

BIODEGRADATION IN SOIL

The registered substance is readily biodegradable.

Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of Annex IX and the specific rules for adaptation, simulation testing on ultimate degradation in soil not required (ECHA guidance R7b; Version 4; June 2017).
