Additional information

Short term toxicity to fish

A non-GLP preliminary range finding test under semi-static conditions over a period of 96 hours was conducted with zebrafish embryos with a saturated solution of the test item prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L (100%) and two further dilution levels (10% and 1%) prepared by dilution of the saturated solutionin dechlorinated water.

Under experimental conditions no statistically significant mortality was observed, therefore the test substance is considered to be not toxic for zebrafish embryos.

Short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

A non-GLP preliminary range finding test under semi-static conditions over a period of 48 hours was conducted with a saturated solution of the test item prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L and three further dilution levels prepared by dilution of the saturated solution by factor 10, 100 and 1000 with dilution water.5 daphnids per each concentration level and two replicates for concentration were used.

Under experimental condition the test substance didn't induce toxicity for the Daphnia Magna.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

A non-GLP preliminary range finding test under static conditions over a period of 72 hours was conducted at the test facility. A saturated solution with a nominal loading of 100 mg test item/L was freshly prepared. Out of this saturated solution three concentration levels were prepared (by serial dilution) with the concentrations 0.100, 1.00 and 10.0% of the saturated solution.

Under experimental condition no toxicity was observed for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.

Toxicity to microorganisms

A Respiration Inhibition Test with activated sludge according to OECD Guideline No. 209 (2010) was carried out with the test item. The test system was activated sludge of the municipal sewage treatment plant of 31137 Hildesheim, Germany. The test was carried out under static conditions with the limit test item concentration 250 mg/L. The respiration rates of the control, reference and test item replicates were measured after a contact time of three hours, and the inhibitory effects of the test and reference item were determined in comparison to the control respiration rates.

The mean inhibition of respiration for the test item replicates was -1%.

In order to check the activity of the test system and the test conditions a reference test was carried out with copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate as reference item and the reference toxicity was determined. The EC50-value for the reference item was 92.6 mg/L. The validity criteria of the test guideline were fulfilled.

The test item caused no inhibiting effects on activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant at the limit test item concentration of 250 mg/L.
