PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB

The PBT Assessment for the substance is based on the criteria set out in the “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment” (ECHA, 2017).

The substance is readily biodegradable based on screening criteria. This was shown in a study according to OECD 301 B (84% within 28d). Thus, the substance does not meet the screening criterion for persistency and is not considered to be not persistent (P) or very persistent (vP) in the environment.

The bioaccumulation assessment was not conducted for the substance since it is not (very)persistent. According to the ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.11: PBT/vPvB assessment (2017) further generation of information on bioaccumulation is only necessary, if the P/vP criterion is fulfilled for the substance. Since this is not the case no B-assesment was performed.

The most sensitive effect concentration for short-term toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria are > 0.1 mg/L. Therefore, the substance does not meet the criteria set out in Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 and it is concluded that the substance is not T.

In conclusion, the substance is not PBT/vPvB.
