Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
The density of 2,3-butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was determined to be 992 kg/m^3 at 20 °C by immersed body method (a buoyancy method for liquids). The relative density was determined to be 0.992 at 20 ℃.
Executive summary:

The density of 2,3-butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was determined to be 992 kg/m^3 at 20 °C by immersed body method (a buoyancy method for liquids).

Description of key information

The density of 2,3-butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was determined to be 992 kg/m3 at 20 °C.

The relative density (dimensionless) was determined to be 0.992 at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
0.992

Additional information

In the available key study the density of 2,3 -butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was determined to be 992 kg/m3 at 20 °C by immersed body method according to OECD 109. The relative density (dimensionless) was determined to be 0.992 at 20 °C. This was corroborated by the supporting study in which density was measured similar to method ASTM D7042. Measured density (ρ) was 0.9923 g·cm³ at 20°C at atmospheric pressure. This equals a relative density (dimensionless) of 0.9923.
