Description of key information

The closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash-point of Tributyl phosphite. The flash-point of the test item was ≤100°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Charles River Laboratories (2019) is a GLP-compliant study following standard test guidelines. The closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash-point of the test item. The study is considered to be reliable without restrictions (Klimisch 1). It was concluded that the flash-point of the test item is the lowest flash-point obtained. Four tests were conducted with the first two tests, no flash-point was observed. With the third and fourth test, the apparatus found a flash-point before the start temperature was reached. In the time between the start of the test and reaching the start temperature, the apparatus checks for a flash-point every 5°C (without stirring).  When checked at 105°C during the third test and at 100°C during the fourth test, a flash-point was detected.  The flash-point was given by the apparatus as ≤105°C and ≤100°C, respectively. Therefore, it is concluded thta the flash point of th etest item was ≤100°C
