Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A literature review was conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. The Yaws' Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals (2008) reports the density to be at 0.9863 g/cm3. The Knovel Critical Tables (2nd Edition) reports the density to be 0.971 g/cm3. Furthermore the Handbook of Environmental Data on Organic Chemicals reports the density to be 0.97 g/cm3. All literature values are in the same range. Thus, a density of 0.971 g/cm3 was regarded as most reliable as this value is the median of all values. Therefore a density of 0.971 g/cm3 was chosen as key value for chemical safety assessment.
