Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient - Shake Flask Method)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
the test item is poorly soluble in n-octanol, so 1 % dimethyl sulfoxide is added.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
other: octanol-water with 1 % dimethyl sulfoxide

Test material

Constituent 1
Test material form:
solid: particulate/powder

Study design

Analytical method:
photometric method

Results and discussion

Partition coefficient
Type:
Pow
Remarks on result:
not determinable because of methodological limitations
Details on results:
The calibration solutions and the sample solutions showed different spectra and colours. In addition, deviating results of the duplicate determinatins were found. Thus it can be assumed that the test item dissolved only partially or a reaction of the test item occurred. Therefore the concentration of the test item in the octanol phase could not be calculated.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Further calculation of the partition coefficient was not possible
