TERRESTRIAL ECOTOXICITY

Since SMLT has an estimated log Kow value of -1.25 and a QSAR predicted Koc of 1.5 L/kg (KOCWIN v2.00; See section 5.4.1) sorption to sewage sludge is expected to be low. Therefore transfer of the registration substance into agricultural soil via sludge amendment can be neglected. Based on this fact terrestrial ecotoxicity tests are not warranted and the PNEC soil is derived from the PNEC freshwater with the Equilibrium Partitioning Method.

The statement given above fulfills the requirement for waiving as given in 1907/2006/EC Annex IX Column 2, 9.4: "The studies do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposureof the soil compartement is unlikely".
