Test material

Constituent 1
Reference substance name:
Reaction products of fatty acids, C18 (unsaturated) alkyl with sulfur trioxide, potassium salts
EC Number:
701-179-4
Molecular formula:
(C18H33)nO7K2S, n= 1-2
IUPAC Name:
Reaction products of fatty acids, C18 (unsaturated) alkyl with sulfur trioxide, potassium salts
Specific details on test material used for the study:
The CAS number 67968-63-2 (EC 942-903-0) is the "pre-REACH" CAS number used for the registered substance. Upon request the name of the substance was changed to Reaction products of fatty acids, C18 (unsaturated) alkyl with sulfur trioxide, potassium salts (EC 701-179-4). However, both descriptors describt the same (identical) substance.

Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of Octadecanoic acid, 9(or 10)-sulfo-, potassium salt (CAS-No. 67968 -63 -2) for fish has been tested in the OECD 203 test with fathead minnow. After 96 hour of exposure, a LC50 = 5.8 mg/l was obtained.
