Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
4.49
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
7.23
Details on results:
During the preliminary test, the elution from a C18 column using a methanol / water eluent was confirmed. Thus, the HPLC method was considered to be appropriate for the test item.
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient was calculated to be: log Pow = 4.49
Executive summary:

The determination of the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of the test item was performed according to the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals, No. 117: Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/Water): High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method. Elution from a C18 column was achieved using a methanol / water eluent with a retention time in a range of retention times of recommended reference items. Thus, the HPLC method was considered to be appropriate for the test item. Six reference items, listed in the guideline, which have known log Pow-values in the range of 0.9 and 5.7, were used. According to the test guideline, the repeatability of a duplicate determination should fall within a range of ± 0.1 log units. Thus, the acceptance criterium was fulfilled. During this study, the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of the test item was determined using the HPLC method. The log Pow-value at 25 °C was found to be 4.49.
