Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps.

Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings.

If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice.

Following inhalation:

Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest.

If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

Following skin contact:

After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap.

Do not wash with: Solvents/Thinner

Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings.

In case of skin irritation, consult a physician.

Following eye contact:

Seek medical advice immediately. In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart and consult an ophthalmologist. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Following ingestion:

Seek medical advice immediately.

Rinse mouth.

Put victim at rest, cover with a blanket and keep warm.

Do NOT induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects

May cause skin irritation. May cause eye irritation.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

High power water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Heating or fire can release toxic vapours/gas. Formation of explosive dust/air mixtures possible.

In case of fire may be liberated: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide (CO2)

Advice for fire fighter:

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure.

Wear personal protection equipment. Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Provide adequate ventilation. Keep away from unprotected persons.

Protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. If necessary, inform the competent authorities.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. If necessary, inform the competent authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Avoid dust formation. Take up mechanically, placing in appropriate containers for disposal. Keep wetted with water. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Clean area thoroughly afterwards

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Advice on safe handling

The substance should be handled in closed apparatus or systems, if possible. Provide good ventilation in storage and work areas. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not dry up the product. Keep wetted with water. Risk of explosion in case of drying up. Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Wear personal protection equipment. Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Keep away from unprotected persons. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Usual measures for fire prevention.

Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Ground and bond container and receiving equipment.

Further information on handling

Always close containers tightly after the removal of product. Never use pressure to empty container. Keep/Store only in original container. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels

Keep/Store only in original container. Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from sunlight. Keep wetted with water. Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a place accessible by authorized  persons only. Always close containers tightly after the removal of product.

Notice the directions for use on the label.

Storage temperature: 2-8 °C

Advice on storage compatibility

Keep away from food and drinks.

Risk of explosion in case of drying up.

Additional transport information

Additional information
Special provisions / remarks / other:
The substance is an organic peroxide Type C which is mechanically insensitive and does not propagate a detonation, but it deflagrates rapidly. The sensitiveness of the substance on heating under defined confinement is assessed as “medium”. A heat accumulation storage test showed that the peroxide is stable at 55 °C over a period of 7 days. Therefore, the SADT is > 55 °C for a 50 kg package and neither a control temperature nor an emergency temperature has to be defined for shipping of the material. The test item is not an explosive substance according to the German Explosives Act and is not too dangerous for transport according to UN test series 3.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1.Technical protection measures

The substance should be handled in closed apparatus or systems, if possible. Provide adequate ventilation. If handled uncovered, arrangements with local exhaust ventilation should be used if possible. If technical exhaust or ventilation measures are not possible or insufficient, respiratory protection must be worn.

2. Organisational protection measures

Remove all sources of ignition. Avoid contact with the substance. Immediately remove any contaminated clothing, shoes or stockings. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Provide eye and emergency safety showers. Wash hands before breaks and after work. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

3. Hand protection

Wear suitable gloves. Replace when worn.

Suitable material: Nitrile rubber

Use protective skin cream before handling the product.

The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves. See information supplied by the manufacturer.

4. Body protection

Wear suitable protective clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work.

5. Eye protection

Wear eye/face protection.

6. Respiratory protection

In case of heavy dust formation or insufficient ventilation respiratory protection is required.

Use suitable breathing apparatus with at least P2 filter device.

Stability and reactivity

1. Chemical stability

The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

2. Possibility of hazardous reactions

Explosion / explosive decomposition of the product during heating / contact with fire possible. Heating causes rise in pressure with risk of bursting.

3. Conditions to avoid

Intense heating. Avoid dust formation. Do not dry up the product.

4. Incompatible materials

Oxidising agent, strong

5. Hazardous decomposition products

In case of fire may be liberated: Carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Dispose according to legislation.

The allocation of waste identity numbers/waste descriptions must be carried out according to the EEC, specific to the industry and process.

Contaminated packaging

Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.

Completely emptied packages can be recycled.

Dispose according to legislation.
