First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures:
General information: First aider: Pay attention to self-protection!
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult,
give oxygen.
Skin contact: Wash off with plenty of water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated
clothing and shoes. If irritation occurs or persists, get medical attention. Wash clothing and shoes
before reuse.
In case of eye contact: After contact with the eyes, rinse with water with the eyelids open for a
sufficient length of time, then consult an ophthalmologist immediately.
In case of ingestion: Call a physician immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
Symptoms of acute toxicity are: increasing restlessness, low blood pressure, respiratory slow down,
first dilation, later contraction of the pupils, slow pulse with a high pulse rate, patients do not react to pain.
Continued use of barbiturates, even in therapeutic doses, may result in psychic or physical
dependence. Abrupt withdrawal of the drug may result in a severe abstinence syndrome which
includes grand mal seizures and delirium.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
When symptoms suggesting toxicity, immediate medical treatment necessary. If possible, show substance
data sheet.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:
Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, foam.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
In case of fire may be liberated: Carbon monoxide (CO), Nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Precautions for fire-fighters:
Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.

Further information:
Contaminated fire extinguishing water must collect separately. It must not be discharged into
drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Avoid generation of dust. Wear personal protection equipment. Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours/dusts.

Environmental precautions:
Do not allow to enter drains/surface water/ground-water.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Carefully take up dry. Vacuum residues. The material collected according to the section Disposal

Reference to other sections:

See disposal

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
All work processes must always be designed so that the following is as low as possible: Inhalation,
Skin contact, Eye contact. Avoid generation of dust. The product is combustible, fine dust (< 63 μ)
may form explosive mixture. Dust explosion category: ST 1.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Protect from light and humidity.
Subject to security regulations of the Narcotics Act.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:
Limits for occupational safety: the substance is not listed. Valid are the general dust limits for 8 h.

Exposure controls:
Appropriate engineering controls:
Immediately change contaminated clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. General room ventilation is adequate unless the process generates dust or fumes. Work clothing should be removed in a change room on site and laundered professionally. Employees should shower and change into street clothes before leaving the facility. Prevent the accumulation of dust in the work area by thorough periodic cleaning of the area.
Personal protective equipment:
Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on
concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective
clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.
Respiratory protection: Is required whenever air contamination (dust, mist, or vapors) is generated
by the process. A NIOSH-approved high efficiency toxic dust/mist/fume respirator is
recommended.
Eye protection: required
Hand protection: In full and splash contact:
Glove material: PVC, Butyl-/Nitrile rubber
Layer thickness: 0.11 mm
The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC directive 89/686/EEC and the resultant standard EN374.
This recommendation applies only to the product stated in the safe data sheet and supplied by us as well as to the purpose specified by us. When dissolving in or mixing with other substances and under conditions deviating from those stated in EN374 please contact the supplier of CE-approved gloves.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: No special conditions
Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions
Possibility of hazardous reactions: Oxidizing agents
Conditions to avoid: Light and elevated temperature
Incompatible materials: Acids

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:
Product: Product waste and residues must be disposed of according to current laws.
Packaging: Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packaging in the same way as
the substance itself.
